Weekly Honors Continue to Roll in for WCU's Jeremy Null

Junior RHP recognized by NCAA and NCBWA for his season-opening performance

2005: Played all season with a (left) shoulder injury and had surgery at season's end ... As WCU went 8-1 over its final nine SoCon games, McDaniel batted .351 with seven RBI ... Had a 15-game hitting streak during the season, getting at least one RBI 10 times during the span ... After going 2-for-24 (.083) and seeing his season average drop to .269, had hits in five of his last six games, including four straight with two or more hits, going 11-for-22 (.500) to end the season with a .296 average ... Had a back-to-back 4-for-5 games ... The first came versus Georgia State and the second was versus Appalachian State game, hitting two doubles and driving in three against the Mountaineers ... Hit a three-run home run to lead WCU past App State in game two of the series ... Despite an 8-7 loss to The Citadel, McDaniel did his part for the Cats, going 2-for-3 with two runs scored, two RBI, two walks and a home run ... Drove in one of WCU's two runs in the first game at Davidson ... Had a sacrifice fly to drive in WCU's only run in the second Clemson game, avoiding the Cats' first ever shutout to the Tigers ... In game two versus UNC Greensboro, hit a three-run home run in the seventh inning, putting WCU from down two to up one in the 8-7 victory ... For the game, was 2-for-5 with four RBI ... Was 2-for-4 and drove in WCU's first run of the game ... Drove in three, going 2-for-4 in the first game at Wofford ... In the Wofford finale, went 3-for-4 ... Was 3-for-4 with two runs scored in the opening round of the SoCon Tournament.

PRIOR TO WESTERN: Spent two seasons at South Carolina ... The Gamecocks made two College World Series appearance ... (2004 at USC): Only played in 10 games, missing a majority of the season with an injury and getting a medical redshirt ... All four of his hits went for extra bases (three doubles and a triple) ... (2003 at USC): Played in 36 games, starting 22, as a freshman ... Batted .218 with three home runs and 12 RBI ... First career homer came in a 7-6 win over James Madison ... Also hit a solo shot in a 6-4 win over Clemson ...

HIGH SCHOOL: Batted .467 with nine home runs and 30 RBI as a senior at Brookland Cayce HS to be named to the North/South All-Star team ... Also posted an 8-1 record on the mound with a 2.73 ERA, striking out 63 in 56.3 innings ... Was Region V Player of the Year as a junior and led his team to the AAA State Championship as a sophomore.
