2006: Made 17 appearances, including 13 starts which marked the second-most on the team in his first season in the purple & gold ... Recorded a 3-3 record with a pair of saves ... Tossed 70.2 innings, also the second-most for WCU last season ... Posted the fourth-most strikeouts (54) ... Longest outing was 8.2 innings in a 4-3 loss at The Citadel, scattering four runs - three earned - on eight hits while striking out seven ... Tallied a season-best eight strikeouts in five innings of work against Wofford on March 24 ... Recorded four-or-more K's in six games.
PRIOR TO WESTERN: Came to Western after two years at Spartanburg Methodist College ... As a sophomore, went 7-1 on the mound ... Was tabbed first team All-Region X ... Also a standout in the classroom, earning NJCAA Distinguished Academic All-American honors and being one of two people at SMC to receive "The Highest Honor Graduate Award" at 2005 graduation ceremonies, presented to students maintaining a 4.0 average in their studies ... In 2004, posted a 6-5 record with a 3.08 ERA ... Led his staff with 64.1 innings pitched, eight complete games and 78 strikeouts with only 13 walks ... HIGH SCHOOL: At St. Stephen's HS in Hickory, was an All-State and all-region pick as a junior and a senior ... Also, in his final two years at St. Stephen's, he was named his conference's Player of the Year each season, leading him to sign with Clemson after his prep career.
