Denver Edick

Position:
Student Assistant

Denver Edick joins the WCU staff as a student assistant while he completes his undergraduate requirements.

He batted .412 for the championship with three RBI, while going errorless in 16 chances at third base. Tabbed by Baseball America as having the "Best Throwing Arm" among SoCon catchers in the preseason, Edick unselfishly played numerous positions for the Cats in 2004, including catcher, third base, left field and right field. He finished sixth in the SoCon in doubles with 20, which additionally ranks seventh on the WCU single-season top 10 list. In his first year at WCU, got off to a slow start and ended the season with .286 batting average. However, in SoCon games, he batted .348 and, for the season, he threw out 18-of-42 would-be base stealers.

Edick, a native of Enka, N.C., started his career at UNC Asheville. In 2002, he led the Bulldogs with eight home runs and paced the Big South Conference with 30 walks, while ranking second in the league by throwing out 17 baserunners. As a freshman, he started all 54 games for UNCA, once again leading the Big South in walks (39).

A product of Enka High School, Edick was an All-State selection and his conference's Player of the Year.
