Prior to Western: A former member of the North Carolina Baseball Academy, originally signed with Winthrop out of high school before transferring to Spartanburg Methodist after his freshman season ... Appeared in seven games with a 3.60 ERA at SMC in 2006, allowing 15 runs - eight of which were earned - on 15 hits with eight strikeouts and nine walks with a 1-1 record ... Earned both an Associate in Art and Associate in Science degrees from SMC in the spring of 2008 ... Played with the Kernersville Bulldogs summer collegiate league team in the Carolina-Virginia Collegiate League (CVCL).
