Baseball wins season opener against Purdue 17-6

Western Carolina wins seventh straight season opener and tenth in to begin 2015 season at Childress Field/Hennon Stadium.

2015 (Junior): Was chosen to wear the coveted No. 7 jersey as the 2015 "Leggett No. 7 Legacy" recipient, as selected by head coach Bobby Moranda and the Catamount baseball coaching staff ... Is the fifth WCU player to wear the legacy honor all-time, but the first underclassman as the four previous honorees were all in their senior seasons ... Voted a team captain - just the second underclassman to garner the honor in recent years at WCU ... Named to the first team preseason All-Southern Conference at catcher.

2014 (Sophomore): Saw action in 43 of WCU's 55 seasonal games, making 24 starts including 22 behind the plate, one in right field and once as the designated hitter ... Batted .305 (32-for-105) with six extra base hits including five doubles and a home run ... Posted nine multiple hit games including eight two-hit outings, while finishing with three, two-RBI games to match his career-high ...
