Cody Jones went 3-for-3 and Bradley Strong drove in three runs as Western Carolina downed Davidson, 5-3, on Sunday.
2013 (Junior): Prior to the season, was one of four players selected as a team captain - the lone junior recognized by his teammates.
2012 (Sophomore): Started 50 of the 53 games in which he saw action including 40-straight games to end the season ... Made 38 starts in right field and a dozen in center field ... Hit .312 on the year with eight of his 62 seasonal hits going for extra bases including five doubles ... Batted in eight of the nine slots in the batting order - the most on the team - hitting in every spot except the lead-off ... Hit .328 (20-of-61) against left-handed pitching ... Ranked tied for second on the team with 22 multiple hit games and had four multiple RBI performances ... Drove in 23 runs on the season ... Was selected second team All-SoCon in the outfield by College Sports Madness ... Belted an extra-inning, go-ahead home run in the loss to UNC Asheville (March 21) at McCormick Field ... Had two, eight-game hitting streaks from mid-March through mid-April - all told, secured hits in 19-of-21 games during the month and a half at mid-season ... Slumped down the stretch, collecting just four hits including a double in his final 10 games as a part of a 4-for-33 (.121) finish; Summer League: Played for the Gastonia Grizzlies of the Coastal Plain League during the summer of 2012 ... Finished the summer batting .284, third on the team ... Started 48 of the 50 games in which he saw action ... Recorded 54 hits in 190 at bats including seven doubles and drove in 18 runs ... Was 11-of-15 in stolen bases.
2011 (Freshman): Played in 35 games making 10 starts including six as the designated hitter, three in right field and once in left ... Ranked second on the team with 17 pinch hit opportunities ... Recorded a .273 batting average on the season with 15 base hits including three for extra bases in 55 at bats ... Finished with three multiple hit games and had two multi-RBI outings ... Collected both his first collegiate base hit and RBI with a pinch hit single through the right side in the fifth inning of the second game of the season against Morehead State (2/19) ... Swiped a career-best two stolen bases at Kennesaw State (3/15) ... Tripled at the College of Charleston (4/3) for his first extra base hit ... Drove in what proved to be the game-winning runs with a two-out, two RBI single to right field in the 16 inning victory over Furman (5/13).
Prior to Western Carolina: Was a two-time North Carolina State Games Region 8 participant ... Earned All-Northwest 4-A Conference accolades three times including garnering the conference's Player of the Year accolades as a senior ... Named All-Western North Carolina and to the All-State baseball team ... Holds the Enka HS school record for hits in a career ... Hit .490 as a senior with eight doubles and a career-best 12 home runs, driving in 36 runs ... As a junior, hit .423 with eight doubles and 19 RBI, stealing eight bases ... Played summer and fall baseball for the Diamond Mine.
