2011 (Senior): Made 25 appearances out of the bullpen, tossing 44.1 innings with a 5-4 overall record with one save while boasting a career-best 2.84 ERA ... Ranked fifth in the SoCon with 21 games finished ... Struck out 41 batters while limiting opponents to a career-low .215 batting average, allowing just seven extra base hits ... Recorded at least one out in all 25 appearances on the season with at least one strikeout in all but six outings ... Opened his senior season by working through his first five appearances without surrendering a hit or an earned run ... Worked four hitless, scoreless relief innings in a home win over Samford (4/8) ... Struck out a career-best 10 in his final appearance on the mound for the Catamounts during the epic 20-inning game against Elon (5/25) in the conference championship event, tossing a career-high 113 pitches in a season-long 5.2 innings ... Was a preseason All-Southern Conference selection as a relief pitcher.
2010 (Junior): Made a career-high 33 appearances, all out of the bullpen as a primary set-up and later as the closer for the WCU pitching staff ... Ranked tied for first on the team with nine victories and two saves, posting a team-low 2.89 ERA ... Opened the year 3-0 before suffering his first loss in two-thirds of an inning against New York Tech ... Finished the season with seven wins and two saves over his next 18 appearances ... Struck out 50 batters including a career-high six against New York Tech ... Named the relief pitcher on the Southern Conference All-Tournament team after picking up two wins out of the bullpen, throwing seven innings with a 1.29 ERA and six strikeouts ... Kept the College of Charleston off the board in four innings of relief work at the SoCon tournament to allow the squad to rally from a 6-0 deficit, winning 7-6 in 12 innings ... Again managed to shutdown Appalachian State in the tourney, only allowing one run as the Catamounts eliminated ASU, 7-6, in the semifinals.
2009 (Sophomore): Appeared in 20 games - third most out of the Catamount bullpen - finishing with a perfect 3-0 overall record and one save ... Tossed 36 and two-thirds innings on the season, all in relief, with a 4.66 ERA ... Opponents on managed a .230 batting average against the right-hander ... Opened the season by only allowing one run through his first six appearances (9.1 IP) - including four-consecutive appearances and five innings all told without allowing a run ... Earned his first career save in two and a third innings of work in a home win over East Tennessee State ... Scored relief victories over conference foes Appalachian State and The Citadel, as well as over fourth-ranked Georgia Tech in the Yellow Jackets first-ever visit to Cullowhee ... Tossed two innings of one-hit relief with a walk and two strikeouts to down Tech.
2008 (Freshman):Made 19 appearances with two starts during his first season, finishing with a 2-1 overall record ... Pitched 29.2 innings with an ERA of 7.89 ... Opponents only hit .245 against him during his freshman season ... Earned his first career victory after tossing two innings of one-run, one-hit relief against Creighton, striking out two ... Worked 4.2 innings in his first career start at Mercer but did not factor into the decision ... In his second career start, lasted a career-long 6.0 innings to secure the win over Gardner-Webb, scattering three hits in scoreless work with a career-high five strikeouts ... Pitched for the Madison Mallards of the Northwoods League during the summer following his rookie season.
High School: Helped West Carteret, who was ranked number one in the state in 2006, to consecutive appearances in the North Carolina High School Athletic Association Class 3A eastern semifinals, and three conference championships in a row...Was a four year letter winner for baseball, and started every game of his prep career...During his senior campaign, went 7-3 with four saves...Had an ERA of 1.20 in 80 innings pitched, with 85 strikeouts and only 10 walks for an astronomical 8.5 K/BB ratio...Batted .313 with 20 RBI and 12 stolen bases to compliment his work on the mound...In addition, he was named both the football team's defensive and special teams player of the year as a junior.
Personal: Full name is Brandon Scott Johnson ... Son of Bruce and Kim Johnson ... His older brother, Bruce, was a volunteer assistant coach at WCU for four seasons.
