Another Record-Breaking Fundraising Year for the Catamount Club

Cullowhee, N.C. - Western Carolina Athletics’ fundraising arm, the Catamount Club, raised a record-breaking $1.51 million to benefit student-athletes scholarships for the 2016-17 fiscal year, a 12-percent growth from the previous fiscal year and surpasses the fiscal year goal of $1.5 million.

All told, for the fiscal year 2016-17 inclusive of donations to the Catamount athletic scholarship fund, endowed scholarships, and restricted giving, the Catamount Club raised over $2.18 million, another record-breaking all-in amount raised.

“On behalf of the Catamount Club staff, we are truly thankful and humbled for the outpouring of giving and ownership of WCU Athletics our supporters showed through the 2016-17 athletic year, in what was another year where you helped surpass our scholarship goal,” said Ryan Jones, Assistant Athletic Director for Development and Director of the Catamount Club. “The philanthropic increases Catamount Club supporters have contributed towards, continue to place WCU Athletics in a strong financial position where we are poised to continue to positively impact the student-athlete experience at WCU.”

“As we continue to develop Champions in the classroom, community, and in competition, our staff hopes that each of our Catamount Club supporters take pride in the impact you have in allowing our student-athletes to reach their full potential at WCU,” Jones added. “All in all, WCU has much to be thankful for as we strive to be the best place for the student-athlete experience in the Southern Conference. To all of our Catamount Club members, please know how appreciative we are in the investment each of you makes in educating WCU student-athletes and bringing Championships back to Cullowhee.”
