Cullowhee, N.C. - With the end of the fiscal year 2012 rapidly approaching on June 30, the Catamount Club and Western Carolina athletics continue to need the support of each of its fans and supporters to reach the goal of raising $500,000 towards the Catamount Athletic Scholarship Fund. Contributions made to The Catamount Club directly impact scholarships that support each of WCU's 16 intercollegiate sports.
The closing days before the end of the financial calendar are critical as the Catamount Club strives to reach its annual goal of $500,000 to the Catamount Scholarship Fund. The organization has currently received over $491,000 to date towards the Catamount Scholarship Fund with membership renewals and upgrades arriving daily.
"Over the past number of years, the Catamount Club has experienced tremendous success and growth not only in numbers, but also in our ability to fund athletic scholarships. This past year has seen a great rejuvenation in Catamount pride and spirit which has translated into great things for the Catamount Club," said Club Director - and former WCU student-athlete - Gorham Bradley. "The success our organization has enjoyed is a direct result of the loyalty, dedication and the hard work of our membership, of whom we are extremely grateful."
"We are encouraging all of our members to renew, or even upgrade, their memberships by June 30, 2012 in order to provide increased scholarship support for the next athletic year," added Bradley.
In addition to money raised through memberships, the Catamount Club has found great success in the Catamount Golf Tour events. The next tour stop - the WCU/Hayesville Golf Outing - is scheduled for July 13 at the Ridges Golf Club in Hayesville, N.C., with the unofficial kickoff for the 2012-13 athletic season in The Western Open slated for August 1 at the Waynesville Inn, Golf Resort and Spa in Waynesville, N.C.
By enrolling at the Coaches Club Level ($1,850) it ensures the donor a designated tailgate spot in the stadium parking lot next to E. J. Whitmire Stadium / Bob Waters Field. The Tailgate Parking Selection Event will take place on August 11 in conjunction with preseason Catamount Football practice. Also on Aug. 11, WCU will hold its "Catamount 101: Ladies Love Football" clinic, as well as a soccer skills set and a home intrasquad scrimmage at the Catamount Athletic Complex.
For any questions about joining the Catamount Club, renewing or upgrading current memberships, please contact Assistant Director of the Catamount Club, Jeremiah Fisher, at (828) 227-3047 or by E-mail at email@example.com. Members wishing to contribute by credit card are encouraged to do so as soon as possible to allow for crediting by the June 30 deadline.
