Cullowhee, N.C. - Western Carolina Athletics and the Catamount Club have unveiled the locations for the Third Annual Catamounts Unite Tour, presented by the Cullowhee River Club on the Tuckasegee. The 2014 installment of the regional tour spans the months of April and May and includes a combined six stops across North Carolina and Georgia.
The third installment of the Catamounts Unite Tour includes a series of receptions designed to allow WCU Director of Athletics Randy Eaton; head football coach Mark Speir; and head men's basketball coach Larry Hunter, as well as other Catamount coaches and staff, to meet with WCU alumni, supporters and Catamount fans as they craft together the vision and direction of Catamount Athletics. The event is open to the public.
"We have experienced tremendous success over the first two years of the Catamounts Unite Tour, taking a piece of Cullowhee to our alum, supporters, donors and fan base across the region. We look to continue that progress with this year's version of the tour," said Gorham Bradley, a former WCU student-athlete and Director of the Catamount Club. "Western Carolina Athletics is on the doorstep of a very exciting time, and there is no better time than now to be a Catamount and to get involved. These tour stops will continue to allow us to share our vision for WCU athletics with the Catamount Nation, and also communicating with our fans how they can help be a part of our future success."
The six-stop tour begins locally in Sylva on Friday, April 11, on the evening prior to WCU Football's Spring Game, presented by Wells Fargo, and following game one of the three-game Southern Conference baseball series against the Furman Paladins at Childress Field / Hennon Stadium. The Sylva tour stop is also sponsored by Macon Bank. The tour will culminate with a stop in Charlotte, N.C., on Thursday, May 15 at Southside.
Along the way, the tour will make stops in Atlanta, Ga., on Tuesday April 15; Hickory, N.C., on Tuesday, April 22; Winston-Salem, N.C., on Wednesday, May 7; and Raleigh, N.C., on Thursday, May 8.
