Birmingham, Ala. - Western Carolina men's and women's cross country teams travel to Birmingham, Ala. to chase a Southern Conference Championship Saturday morning at Veteran's Park.

The men's 8k race around the park is set to start at 10 a.m. with Travis Alfaro headlining the Catamount runners. Last season, WCU finished sixth on both the men's and women's sides. The men had their best finish in 1993 when the Catamounts took second, while the women's best finish came in 2001 and 1998 when WCU took third.
