Sept. 27, 2017

CULLOWHEE, N.C. - Western Carolina cross country runner Jordan Bostian was selected today (Sept. 27) as the Southern Conference's Runner of the Week for his performance at the UNC Asheville Cross Country Invitational this past weekend. Selections are made by the league’s head coaches.

The weekly honor is the first for both Bostian and the Catamounts this season. The award also marks the first Runner of the Week honor for any male Catamount since the 2014 season when Travis Alfaro earned the distinction on Oct. 8 following the Upstate Invitational.

Bostian, a junior, took seventh in a field of 100 in the men’s four-mile race with a time of 21:02.91. The Mount Ulla, N.C., native helped the Catamounts to a second-place finish at the Asheville Cross Country Invitational on Saturday morning. Bostian was the only Catamount to finish in the top 10 and one of just three to finish in the top 20.

Bostian and the rest of the Catamounts will return to action Saturday, Sept. 30 at the Upstate Invitational hosted by USC Upstate in Spartanburg, S.C.
