Cullowhee, N.C. - Western Carolina Head Coach Danny Williamson announced Annastagia Fitzpatrick, a rising freshman from LaGrange, Ga., has joined the Catamount track and field team this afternoon.

Fitzpatrick ran track at Calloway High School where she set the state 2-A record in the 100M dash. The sprinter also set personal best times of 12:17 in the 100M dash and 24.90 in the 200M dash.

"Annastagia is a great late find for us," said coach Williamson. "We are fortunate to get someone of this quality. She will add a big punch to our sprint program."

The cross country/track and field programs will have 36 new faces for the 2001-2002 season adding 14 women and 22 men.

The Catamounts kick off the 2001 cross country season when they host the WCU Invitational, September 1. Start times are set for 9:30 a.m.
