Cullowhee, N.C. - Western Carolina men's and women's cross country head coach Danny Williamson has announced the Catamounts' 2014 season slate with nine possible dates.
"We are excited about our 2014 schedule," Williamson said. "It will give our athletes an opportunity to compete against some top quality teams that are located in our region. It will also continue to allow our distance program to develop towards putting ourselves in the upper echelon of the Southern Conference."
The Catamounts will again open the Western Carolina Invitational hosted by WCU in Cullowhee on Friday, August 29 at 6:30 p.m. WCU will travel down to Greenville, South Carolina on September 13 at 9 a.m. and compete in the Furman Invitational.
WCU will either compete at UNC Asheville in the UNC Asheville Invitational at 9 a.m. on Saturday, September 20 at 9 a.m. or in the Charlotte XC Invitational on Friday, September 26 at 4:30 p.m.
Opening the month of October, the Catamounts will again head down I-26 and run in the USC Upstate Invitational on Saturday, October 4 at 9 a.m. WCU will host its second meet of the season, the WCU Catamount Classic, on Friday, October 17 at 3:30 p.m.
Following a week of rest, WCU will head to Greensboro, North Carolina for the Southern Conference Championship Friday, October 31 at 10 a.m.
The NCAA Southeast Regional is scheduled for Friday, November 14 at 11 a.m. in Louisville, Kentucky with the NCAA Championship on paper two weekends later, Saturday, November 22, in Terre Haute, Ind. at 11 a.m.
