Greenville, S.C. - The Western Carolina men's and women's cross country teams competed in the NCAA Southeastern Regional Qualifiers Saturday, November 10 hosted by Furman. The women's team placed 16th overall, only one point behind Southern Conference opponent UNC Greensboro. The men placed 18th overall defeating Davidson and The Citadel.
The women's team was led by Holly Bright who placed 71st with a 6K time of 23:40. Megan Thacker placed 83rd with a time of 24:02 while Alissa Short was not far behind placing 94th (24:16). Rounding out the women's team was Jesse Stackhouse with a time of 25:04 finishing 130th and Melanie Cooper finishing 140th (25:15).
Jesse Norman paced the men's team with a time of 32:35 placing 66th. Caleb Bailey finished 80th with a time of 33:01. Ben Watkins placed 129th and Philip Ramsey finished 140th with times of 34:02 and 34:19, respectively. Ryan Crise placed 157th with a 10K time of 34:45.
