Catamount Cross Country Finishes Fifth & 12th at Greater Louisville Classic

Lousiville, Ky. - Running in the blue division, the Western Carolina Catamount men's cross country team finished fifth out of 31 teams while the women were 12th out of 24 at the Greater Louisville Cross Country Classic Saturday morning. "We are still not where we need to be, but we are getting better each and every time out," said head coach Danny Williamson. "Today, we got the top runners that are vital to solid finishes, but we just need to work on bunching up the pack and closing the gap between our third, fourth, and fifth runners." Senior Dan Fassinger led the men with a fifth-place run out of 194 runners, turning in a time of 26:10, while sophomore Field Miller gave the Catamounts two in the top 25 with a 24th-place finish with a time of 27:28. Junior Kerrie Savery paced the women's team with her second-best individual finish of the season placing third out of 234 runners with a time of 19:15 while sophomore Skye Aiello ran tenth. Murray State won the women's blue division competition with 116 points, placing three runners in the top 25. Lindenwood University out of St. Charles, Mo. won the men's blue division title putting all five scored runners in the top 25 including three inside the top 10.
