He also helped coordinate home meets including helping build the schedule, hiring officials, coordinating volunteers and acting as a liaison to other athletic department personnel.
Prior to his time a Marshall, Talkington spent one semester as a student volunteer coach at the University of Wyoming. As a student coach he assisted in practice sessions and worked with both the men’s and women’s jumpers on technical development.
Talkington holds the USA Track & Field Level 1 coaching certificate and just recently obtained the USATFCCCA Strength and Conditioning certification.
He graduated from the University of Wyoming in 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in history. While attending Wyoming, Talkington earned All-Mountain West honors in the triple jump in 2013. He also achieved the 10th best all-time mark in the triple jump at Wyoming. He scored in all four Mountain West championships in which he competed in from 2010 to 2013.
