         <description><![CDATA[Western Carolina had 25 student-athletes named to the 2007 Southern Conference Fall Academic All-Conference team released today by the conference office. A total of 261 student-athletes, representing all 11 Southern Conference institutions, were named to the team averaging a 3.56 grade point average on a 4.0 scale. Western Carolina ranked fourth out of the 11 schools with 25 behind league-leader, Wofford, with 40 honorees, followed by Furman with 30 and The Citadel with 28. -]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[Western Carolina's Kerrie Savery was named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week on Tuesday by the conference office. A standout on Western Carolina's women's track team, Savery has 3.3-grade point average and is majoring in Biology. Savery, a senior from Palm Harbor, Fla., led the women's track & field team at the UNC Invitational with a third place finish in the 800-meters. She was also a part of the first-place distance medley relay team.]]></description>
