Cullowhee, N.C. - Both of the men's relay teams at Western Carolina were named to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) 2007 All-East Region as announced at the conclusion of the NCAA regional in Gainesville, Fla.

The 4x400-meter relay team of sophomore Manteo Mitchell, senior James Gregory, senior Mike Malone and junior Zeb Johnson finished eighth in the East at the regional to earn the all-region accolades.

Mitchell and Johnson were joined by teammates, freshman Dominique Young and sophomore Kevin Johnson on the 4x100-meter relay team which finished fifth in the region and advanced to the NCAA National Championship earlier this month in Sacramento, Calif. Ranked 17th in the nation prior to the start of the national competition, the four Catamounts improved eight spots to finish ninth in the nation, one position shy of garnering the All-American title.
