White Plains, N.Y. - After spending Tuesday night in Lexington, Va., the Western Carolina track & field team loaded up to complete the journey to New York in preparation for the 2005 NCAA East Regional.

The Cats' ventured through parts of West Virginia, Pennsylvania and New Jersey before arriving at the "home away from home," the Summerfield Suites in White Plains, N.Y. After a brief stop to freshen up, it was back on the bus for the ride into downtown New York City and the famous Times Square.

Members of the team ventured into the shops and took in the sights of the "City that Never Sleeps." While exiting the city, the bus ventured past the docks where the U.S.S. Intrepid -- a nucluear powered air craft carrier -- was docked before returning to the hotel for a good night's rest -- despite a slight detour exiting the city.

On Thursday morning, the squad again loaded up the bus and headed for the big city. The Catamounts arrived at Icahn Stadium on Randall's Island for a brief workout and coaches' meeting. The remainder of the evening will be spent relaxing for the weekend's competition.

The Track & Field team will begin competing on Friday and will conclude on Saturday with hopes of securing a spot at the NCAA Nationals in Sacramento, Calif. Fans can check back at CatamountSports.com throughout the day on Friday for updates.
