Western Carolina Crowned SoCon Indoor Track & Field Champions
Clemson, S.C. - Western Carolina claimed its third team title all-time, and second in the past three years, by winning the Southern Conference Men's Indoor Track & Field Championship at the Clemson Indoor Facility. The Catamounts outscored their nearest competitor, Appalachian State, by 64 points, 277-to-213, en route to capturing the crown. Head coach Danny Williamson was dubbed as the league's Coach of the Year while sophomore Zeb Johnson was tabbed as the Track Most Outstanding Performer.

Western Carolina Men Claim 2006 SoCon Outdoor Track & Field Championship
Statesboro, Ga. - Scoring a total of 206.5 points on the final day of competition, the Western Carolina men's track & field team rallied to win the 2006 Southern Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championship at the Georgia Southern Track/Soccer Complex, sweeping both the indoor and outdoor seasons this year. The Catamounts finished with 258.5 points to defeat mountain-rival - and defending champion - Appalachian State by 14 points as the Mountaineers totaled 244.5. Just as in the indoor season, head coach Danny Williamson was named SoCon Coach of the Year, sharing the honors with Davidson's Gary Andrews for his 20th selection all-time. Senior Adam Puett was named Track Most Outstanding Performer after running the 800-meter, 1,500-meter, and 5,000-meter all within an hour of each other and helping clinch the title.
