Cullowhee, N.C. - Western Carolina track & field sophomore Zeb Johnson has shown nothing but poise, character, and leadership since his first practice at Western Carolina as a part of the Track & Field team. The energy he gives off will be critical this weekend as Western looks to sweep both the indoor and outdoor Southern Conference championships this season.

As the defending SoCon Freshman of the Year, Johnson currently leads the conference in the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes. He also holds the WCU school record in the 200-meter event, which qualified him for NCAA East Regional in Greensboro, N.C., on May 26-27.

Johnson also qualified for the regional with his teammates, senior Milton Bolton, freshman Kevin Johnson, and sophomore Mike Malone in the 4x100-meter relay, marking the third time he has qualified for NCAA regionals. Back during the indoor season, Johnson was tabbed as the SoCon's Most Outstanding Track Performer.

Although Track & Field is the sport he purses in college, while in high school, Johnson lettered in five other sports during his high school career at Garinger High in Charlotte, N.C.; football, baseball, basketball, swimming, and cross country.
