South Bend, Ind. - Western Carolina junior Caleb Bailey ran the 800 meter race at the Alex Wilson Invitational at Notre Dame Saturday in record time. The Lawrenceville, Ga., native finished the race in 1:48.49, which breaks the WCU record, set by Bailey earlier this year, by over two seconds. It also stands as the sixth fastest time in the country so far this year.

His record breaking mark qualifies the All-Southern Conference performer for the NCAA Indoor Championships, which are set to begin next Friday, March 14, in Fayetteville, Ar.

The Catamounts open their outdoor track and field season on Saturday, March 22, at the Clemson Relays in Clemson, S.C.
