Cullowhee, N.C. - The Southern Conference today named Raquel Ramseur from Western Carolina as the Women's Indoor Track and Field Performer of the Week for her accomplishments at the ETSU Indoor Meet held at the Memorial Center in Johnson City, Tenn., last weekend.

It marks the third-consecutive week that a Catamount has earned the women's weekly award from the conference, joining senior Leslie Martin who garnered the honors two weeks ago and senior Laura Tieszen who tallied the weekly award on February 2. Tieszen was also named the conference's Athlete of the Month for January by the SoCon.

Ramseur, a freshman from Charlotte, NC, won the 200-meter dash, crossing the line with both a personal and WCU season-best time of 24.84. She also took first in the 400-meter dash (56.30) and was a part of the 4x400-meter relay team that also claimed first place over the weekend, completing her leg with a 56.1 split. Ramseur also set a personal record in the 60 meters with a time of 7.74, the top time for Western this indoor season, to place sixth.

Ramseur currently ranks at the top of the Southern Conference Performance Rankings in the 200-meter, 400-meter and 4x400-meter relay events. She also holds four individual season-bests for the Catamounts and is one-fourth of the 1,600-meter relay team that holds the top time this year.

Western Carolina's track & field teams return to action this Saturday, February 12 at the Tiger Indoor Invitational in Clemson, S.C. The Catamounts set five season-bests two weeks ago at the Clemson Championships.
