Spartanburg, S.C. -
Western Carolina's Genevieve Emrick was named the Southern Conference's Track Athlete of the Week becoming the fourth Catamount athlete to earn weekly recognition from the league this season.
Emrick finished the 400 meters at the Bob Pollack Invitational with a time of 55.98, which converts to a 55.25 on the SoCon ranking list for 400 meter flat track conversion. The junior from Franklin, N.C., also posted a 55-second split in the 4x400 meter relay and has been atop the SoCon 400 meter list all season.
She joins teammates David Johnson and Michaela Birek, who were named SoCon Field Athletes of the Week on January 29, and Chenell Bryan, who was named SoCon Field Athlete of the Week on January 22, as WCU athletes to be named by the league's office this season.
She is the 17th different women's track and field team member and the 20th time a Catamount has been honored with the weekly award.
