Baton Rouge, La. - Western Carolina track and field standout Virginia LaCombe wrapped up the season finishing in eighth place nationally Thursday in the women's high jump at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, clearing 5'8.75" before missing at 5'10.5".

The junior improved her finish in the event from the indoor championships earlier this year, moving from 16th to eighth. Her performance earned her NCAA All-American honors.

LaCombe automatically qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championships with her jump of six feet in the women's high jump at the annual Orange/Purple Classic at Clemson University earlier this month. That jump was also a Clemson field record as well as a Western Carolina outdoor record.
