JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -
Sophomore Jocelyn Keen concluded her sophomore season with her first visit to a post season meet as the Fuquay Varina, N.C., native, placed thirty-third overall in the 800m run in the NCAA East Preliminary Round held in Jacksonville, Fla., on the campus of the University of North Florida Thursday night.
Keen ran a 2:08.89 to finish sixth out of eight in her heat. LSU's Charlene Lipsey - the top-seeded runner in the heat - took first out of the group with her time of 2:06.42. Georgetown's Chelsea Cox (2:07.73), Jacksonville's Joane Pierre (2:07.99), Jordan Gray of Indiana (2:08.11) and Princeton's Kacie O'Neil (2:08.32) made up the top five.
Keen - the Southern Conference champion in the 800m - ran in seven finals races in outdoors, never finishing outside of the top ten. Keen placed in the top three six times, winning four. She set a personal best in the event on May 5 at the Bob Pollock Invitational - 2:07.68 - knocking three seconds off her conference championship time of 2:10.99.
