Atlanta, Ga. - Western Carolina freshman Asia Davis earned a trip to the NCAA East Regionals in Gainesville, Fla., on May 28 with her finish of 1:00.60 in the 400 meter hurdles Saturday at the Georgia Tech Invitational. Davis joins a cast of 13 other Catamounts who will compete at the regional meet.
For the women, Laura Tieszen will represent Western in the pole vault with her WCU record mark of 13'1.5" coming at the Southern Conference Championships. It marked a first place finish for Tieszen and a new SoCon record as well. Leslie Martin will run in the 800 meters, while Brittany Whitaker will compete in the high jump.
For the Catamount men, the 4x100 meter relay group of Patrick Mauldin, Darius Bryson, Milton Bolton and T. Alford are heading to Regionals, while Alford qualified individually in the 100 meter dash. Bolton also qualified for the 400 meters. Josh Lee will be throwing the javelin at the meet and Wes Willoughby will look for another solid finish in the pole vault after winning the event at the SoCon Championships.
Wrapping up the field events, Tyler Ferguson will compete in the triple jump and Xavier Godard is participating in the long jump. On the track, Lawrence Briscoe represents WCU in the 110 meter hurdles, while Adam Puett will run in the 1500 meters.
