Clemson, S.C. - A few members of the Western Carolina track and field team competed at the annual Clemson Relays over the weekend in preparation for the upcoming NCAA Regionals in Fairfax, Va., on May 30. The freshman threw 193'8" to place fourth at the Relays.

WCU pole vaulters Laura Tieszen and Michelle Velez took first and second place, respectively, at their event with both vaulting 12'6". Tieszen had already qualified in the event with her record-setting height of 12'10". Velez improved her mark by six inches.

The Catamounts will compete in one more meet, the Georgia Tech Invitational on May 16, before heading to Fairfax for the NCAA Regional competition.
