CULLOWHEE, N.C. - Western Carolina closed out the final day of the 2018 Catamount Classic presented by The Catamount Travel Center with strong performances in the men's and women's sides.

Western Carolina opened the sprinting events with a win for the women in the 4x100m. Mia Little, Dasha Arnaut, Dominique Delisser and Jazmine Gooden combined for a time of 46.52. On the men's side, Josh Little, Dakota Lamont, Devaniel Dale and Henry Kiedi placed third with a time of 41.38.

Senior Scott Peretin won the shot put with a personal-best heave of 16.32m. It was a one-two-three finish for the Catamounts as Mateius Brown was second with 16.18m and Dakota Wright is third at 15.63m. On the women's side, Simone Williams tied for first place with Jacksonville State's Courtney Bennett with a heave of 13.87m.

Brown came back later in the meet to place second in the men's discus throw with a toss of 48.67m and Peretin placed third with 47.79m.

Senior Corey Ginley won the pole vault with a mark of 4.67m.

Western Carolina picked up third and fourth places finish in the 100m hurdles. Dasha Arnaut dashed across the finish line with a time of 14.47 for third place while Jazmine Gooden crossed with a time of 14.55 for fourth. In the men's 110m hurdles, there were also third and fourth place finishes. J'Len Wison finished third with a 14.88 time and Mike Jones was fourth with a time of 15.12.

Western Carolina's men went 1-2-3 in the 400m dash led by Lamont's meet record time of 46.62 knocking off teammate Keidi from the record spot who ended up second with a time of 47:18. Chace Washington-Saunders was third at 47.25. It was a third-place finish for the women's Dominique Delisser in the 400m dash with a time of 58.05.

Washing-Saunders came back later in the day to win the 200m dash with a time of 21.60. Teammate Lamont took second at 21.62.

The Catamounts' Arnaut set a new meet record in the women's 400m hurdles clocking in at 1:00.51. In the men's 400m hurdles, Dylan Andrade placed second with a time of 55.60.

Senior Kevin Hires picked up a win in the triple jump with a leap of 15.30m (50-02.50 feet) just five inches short of the meet record of 50-07.25.

In the women's 800m run, Christina Nikolaou placed third with a time of 2:14.90. In the heptathlon, Marisa Scott placed third with 4,557 points.

Tyler Robakiewicz won the men's 3000m steeplechase with a time of 9:51.52 and teammate Justin Tucker placed second clocking in at 10:06.52. In the 500m run, Jordan Bostian placed second with a time of 15:20.53.

The Catamount women closed out the meet with a fourth-place finish in the 4x400m with D'Amani Bryant, Christina Nikolaou, Marissa Scott and Lindsey Trotter. The Catamount men's 4x400m team of Caleb Albrecht, Miles Greer, Terry Young and Robakiewicz with a time of 3:29.57.

Western Carolina returns to action April 20-21 at the Georgia Tech Invitational.
