Clemson, S.C. - WCU's Virginia LaCombe and Ashley Herendon finish first in the high jump and javelin for the Lady Catamounts in the Clemson Invitational Saturday, April 7.

Junior Virginia LaCombe won the high jump with a height of 5 feet, 8.5 inches. She was only two inches short of the WCU record which she set at 5 feet, 10.5 inches earlier this season. Joining LaCombe in first was Ashley Herendon who won the javelin with a throw of 148 feet, 11 inches. Herendon out threw Karen Rademeyer of Florida State by over five feet.

Sophomores Whitney Woods and Melanie Cooper placed second in the 3000 meter run and the 5000 meter run, respectively. Woods marked a time of 10:57.57 in the 3000, while Cooper ran 19:05.49 in the 5000.

On the men's side sophomore Caleb Bailey placed second in the 1500 meter run with a time of 3:57.56. Bailey placed third in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:55.05. Sophomore Derrick High placed third in the 400 meter dash with a time of 47.89.

The track and field team next competes in the Sea Ray Relays in Knoxville, Tenn. April 13-14.
