The Beaches - consisting of East Carolina and UNC Wilmington - defeated the Mountains - Western Carolina and Appalachian State - on both the men's and women's side in the Fourth Annual Mountains vs. Beaches Meet held on the campus of UNC Wilmington. For the women, the Beaches won by a score of 353 to 321. The men for the Beaches defeated the Mountains a little more handedly with a 354.5 to 310.5 margin. The win for the Beaches marks the first time the teams from the east coast of North Carolina have defeated the schools from the mountains of North Carolina. Western Carolina had 37 top-five finishes and eight wins for the meet.

For the women, Jocelyn Keen continued her outstanding outdoor spring with her third consecutive win in the 800-meter run, crossing the stripe in 2:10.68. Teammates Lena Elliott (2:15.03) and Hayley Tomlinson (2:17.43) picked up top-five finishes, placing fourth and fifth respectively.

WCU dominated the women's 400-meter events with Felisha Garren winning the 400-meter with a time of 54.63. Michaela Birek also picked up a win in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:02.65. Shermell Wilkins placed third with a time of 1:03.99. In the men's events, WCU tallied four of the top six positions in the 400-meter hurdles, with Tyler Bentley narrowly being defeated with a time of 53.82. Teammates Abraham Faison, Marquis Bailey and Sam Lusty placed fourth through sixth.

In the throws, Jamie Van Pelt picked up a trio of top-three finishes in the discus, hammer and javelin. Van Pelt won the discus with a throw of 48.91m. Van Pelt placed third in both the hammer and javelin events.

In the women's throws, freshman Alisha Bradshaw placed second in the discus with a throw of 44.15m while also placing third in the shot put with a throw of 12.96m.

Megan Morton returned to her winning ways in the javelin, winning the event with a throw of 42.69m. Kim Cannon finished fifth with her throw of 36.83m.

The Catamounts had three athletes in the 100-meter hurdles with Xaviera Bass leading the way for the Purple and Gold with a second-place finish. Bass ran a 14.38. Shermell Wilkins (14.89) and Jettana Thomas (15.04) finished fifth and six.

Chase Fisher won the men's 3000-meter Steeplechase with a time of 9:36.14.

In the relays, WCU swept the 4x400-meter relays winning the women's with a time of 3:44.20 while the men won their race with a time of 3:13.71. The women's team consisted of Lena Elliott, Genevieve Emrick, Jocelyn Keen and Felisha Garren. The men's team consisted of Aaron Tribble, Aaron Harris, Demari Boswell and Benny Davis. Both 4x100-meter relay teams placed second with the women crossing the line in 45.45 while the men ran a 41.12.

Both team standing mirrored each other with East Carolina topping both standings while WCU placed fourth.
