Fayetteville, Ar. - Senior Virginia LaCombe traveled to Arkansas to compete in the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships this weekend, and finished tied for 16th this afernoon in the women's high jump competition with a jump of 5'7.75". There were a total of 20 jumpers competing in the event, and the best jump of the day came from Darnesha Griffith of UCLA at 6'0.75".

LaCombe earned her way to the Championships with a high jump of six feet in the Florida Fast Times Invitational last week in Gainseville, Fla. She was the first Catamount to participate it the NCAA Indoors since pole vaulter Valerie Jalajas participated in 2000. LaCombe is also the current Sothern Conference Champion in the high jump.

LaCombe returns to Cullowhee as the track and field teams prepare for the start of their outdoor season. The WCU Invitational set for next Saturday, March 16, has been cancelled. Please check back at catamountsports.com for further updates.
