Clemson, S.C. - In the final tune-up before next weekend's Southern Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships, ten Western Carolina track athletes attended the Clemson Tiger Invitational over the weekend. The majority of WCU's sprinters, jumpers, vaulters and field-event athletes were given the weekend off to rest for the conference meet with the Catamounts sending its middle distance runners to compete.

Junior Kerrie Savery headlined WCU's performances with seasonal-best time of 5:05.26 to take fourth place in the women's mile run. Also for Western's women, junior Brooke Saddler posted her best time of the year in the women's 800-meter run (2:24.61), while sophomore Skye Aiello ran a 10:52.66 - her seasonal best - in the 3,000-meter run. Freshman Sara Dickson also ran for the Catamounts in the 3,000-meter.

On the men's side, senior Dylan Hermelee clocked his best time of the season in the mile run by 83-hundredths of a second, running 4:29.00 with both Noah Taylor and Jesse Ramirez also competing in the event. Aaron Grant shaved three seconds off his season-best time in the 800-meter dash, crossing the line in a WCU-best 1:58.42 to finish eighth. Freshman Jestin Jennings was just behind his teammate in 11th with a time of 1:58.65, with his classmate Chris Justice also running for the Cats.

Western will return to action this Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 17-18, at the SoCon Indoor Championships to be held in Clemson, S.C. The Catamount men are the defending indoor champions, while the women will look to build upon last season's runner-up finish.
