Clemson Games Results - Day One Get Acrobat Reader

Clemson, S.C. - Western Carolina indoor track and field finished day one at the Clemson Games with eight podium finishes. Sprinter Benny Davis led WCU with a win in the men's 400-meter dash with a time of 49.63 seconds.

The Catamounts continued their strong indoor season as the men earned five top-three finishes, while the women picked up three.

Davis, a sophomore from Morganton, N.C., won his first 400-meter event of the year.

Freshman Cordell Livingston continued his strong season with a second place finish in the 60-meter hurdles. Livingston scored a time of 8.14 in the preliminaries before earning 8.17 in the finals.

Senior Michael Osteen recorded a season-best 4.63 meters in the pole vault, placing second in the event. In the long jump, Lawren Willard placed second with a jump of 6.96 meters, while Alex Dollard earned third with a distance of 6.86 meters.

Josey Weaver recorded a season-high in the mile run with a time of 4:23.37. Cale McDaniel (17.35 meters in the weight throw, 4th) and Dominique Young (6.85 in the 60-meter dash, 5th) also paced the field for the Catamount men.

In the men's heptathlon, Matt Evans was in second after day one with 2,946 points.

Sophomore Deirdra Morrison led the women with a second place finish in the weight throw event. Morrison, a native of Wilkesboro, N.C., hit a distance mark of 15.45 meters.

Catamounts Jordan Gaddy and Jane't Carothers followed with a pair of third place finishes in their respective events. Gaddy ran the mile run with a season-high mark of 5:12.82. In the 400-meter dash, Carothers also hit a season pinnacle with a time of 56:37.

Tiana Jones (5.49 meters in the long jump, 5th), Ashley Walla (3.36 meters in the pole vault, 6th) and Felicia Paulding (7.71 seconds in the 60-meter dash, 8th) finished with team-highs for the Catamount women.

On Friday, Carlyn Wright was fifth and Jettana Thomas sixth in the women's pentathlon with 2,934 and 2,795 total points, respectively.
