Junior (2010-11): Indoor- Ran in five meets including the SoCon Indoor Championship ... Placed third in his first competition of the season at the Clemson Invitational in the 3000m run (8:39.36) ... A member of the DMR team that finished second at the Niswonger Invitational (10:14.20). That same team placed fourth in the SoCon Championship (10:20.65) ... Individually, ran in the 3000m (13-8:38.98) and the 5000m (14-15:28.26) at the SoCon Championships.
Outdoor- Competed in the 3000m, 3000m Steeplechase, 5000m, and the 10,000m ... Won the 3000m Steeplechase at the Beynon Sports Surfaces Catamount Classic with a time of 9:45.14 ... Picked up his second victory of the season in the 5000m, also at home, at the WCU Invitational in the 5000m run (15:58.00) ... Representing the Mountains, placed fourth in the Steeplechase with his time of 9:46.04 ... At the SoCon Championships, placed 10th in the 5000m (15:37.48) and 12th in the 10,000m (32:46.60).
Sophomore: Indoor- Earned his first career win at the Tar Heel Invitational ... Ran a 8:42.23 in the 3000m run to pick up the win ... Earned three other top five finishes ... Placed third in the Appalachian Indoor Track Invitational in the first meet of the season, running a 8:55.43 in the 3000m ... Finished fourth at the Clemson Games in the mile, running a 4:23.37 ... Ran a 8:35.58 in the 3000m run to place fourth in the following meet, the Tiger Paw Invitational ... Picked up two 12th place finishes at the SoCon Championships in the 3000m (8:52.04) and the 5000m (15:07.20).
Outdoor- Picked up two victories in the outdoor season ... The first win came in the first meet of the outdoor season, the CCU Shamrock. Weaver won the 10,000m in 31:40.88, his personal best in the event ... His second win came in the 3000m run at the Beaches vs. Mountains meet, finishing in 8:45.01 ... In that same meet, Weaver placed fourth in the Steeplechase with his time of 10:00.25 ... Placed third in the 1500m run (4:05.70) at the WCU Invitational ... Notched two top 10 finishes at the Southern Conference Outdoor Championships ... Ran a 32:38.24 to finish eighth in the 10,000m and a 9:44.20 in the Steeplechase, also placing eighth in the event ... Finished 14th (16:06.78) in the 5000m run.
Freshman: Indoor- Competed in in the 3000m and the 5000m ... Ran a a 9:01.86 in the 3000m run to place 16th at the Penn State Sykes-Sabock Challenge Cup ... Crossed the line in 15:42.46 in the 5000m at the Niswonger Invitational.
Outdoor- Placed fifth in the Mountains vs. Beaches meet, finishing in 10:06.44 in the Steeplechase ... At the SoCon Championships, place 13th in the 5000m, finishing in 15:58.08, while earning a 10th place finish in the 10,000m (33:36.16).
High School: Two time All-Conference in Pole Vault. Three time all-region in Pole Vault and also two time all-state in Pole Vault and 3200 meters. Has three high school records in 3200 meters at 9:42, 1600 meters at 4:30, and Pole Vault 14 inches. Also is a 3-time state Champion in 3200 meters, Pole Vault, and cross country.
Personal: Full name is Josey Walter Weaver...son of Henry and Tonya Weaver ... Town of Weaverville is named after his 5th great-grandfather ...Also played football, basketball, and baseball in high school.
