Thirty WCU student-athletes earn recognition for academic achievements
Junior: Indoor- Earned three consecutive finishes in the top five ... Finished third in the 3000m at the Appalachian Invitational (8:55.87) ... At the Dick Taylor Invitational crossed the line in 8:50.66 (fourth-3000m) and 15:37.15 (fifth-5000m) ... Placed 13th and 17th in the 3000m and the 5000m at the conference championships.
Outdoor- Began the season with three top three finishes ...Placed third at the 49er Classic in the 3000m Steeplechase before matching his finish in the 5000m the following week at the Catamount Classic with his time of 16:01.95 ... Picked up a win at the Mountains vs. Beaches in the Steeplechase (9:36.14) ... At the SoCon Championships, ran a 16:01.51 (14th) in the 5000m and a 10:03.56 (13th) in the Steeplechase.
Sophomore: Indoor- Competed in six races, running the 3000m, 5000m and the DMR ... placed fourth at the Clemson Invitational, finishing fourth in 16:17.48 ... In his final meet of the season, Fisher ran a 8:49.07 in the 3000m to finish second.
Outdoor- Earned runner up in the Catamount Classic in the Steeplechase ... Placed sixth in the Steeplechase in the Mountains vs. Beaches meet (9:53.57) ... Finished fourth in the 5000m at the WCU Invitational, running a 16:17.57.
High School: Four-year athlete in Track and Field and Cross Country at Northwest Cabarrus High School in Concord, N.C. ... Four-year MVP in Cross Country, and was named MVP for distance all four years in track and field .... Earned All-County accolades in Cross Country and Track and Field all four years at Northwest Cabarrus ... Named to All-Conference and All-Region in Cross Country and Track and Field for three years ... Personal bets are 4:30 in the 1600m, 9:51 in the 3200m and 16:12 in the 5K.
