Kim Cherry-Beck graduated from Western Carolina University in 2001 with a B.S. degree in Physical Education ... Was a four-year member of the Western Carolina cheerleading squad, serving as the team's captain from 1998 through 2001 ... During the same time she was named captain, Cherry was also selected as the team's MVP (1998-2001) ... While at Western, Cherry and the cheerleaders participated in the UCA and NCA National competitions, taking 3rd place in the NCA Small CoEd Division in 2001.

Following her graduation, Cherry served as an assistant coach for the squad during the 2001-02 athletic seasons ... She earned her Masters of Education from Clemson University in 2004 ... Cherry also has experience working as a Cheersport Camp Instructor, as well as working on the Cheersport Regional and Nationals Staff.

She is married to former Catamount baseball player, Alan Beck, who is an assistant on staff at Western Carolina. The couple had their first child, Easton, in April of 2012.
