Sean Forrester joined the Western Carolina University athletic media relations staff in September of 2014. He serves as the primary media relations contact for Catamount volleyball, men's basketball, women's tennis, men's and women's track & field and men's and women's cross country teams.
Prior to coming to Cullowhee, he spent two years at Coastal Carolina University working with former Western Carolina Director for Media Relations Mike Cawood. He served as the primary media relations contact for the Chanticleer volleyball, men's basketball and men's and women's track & field programs. Highlighting his time in Conway was Coastal Carolina men's basketball's first trip to the NCAA Tournament since 1993. He also served as one of the hosts of both the 2013 and 2014 VisitMyrtleBeach.com Big South Basketball Championships held inside The HTC Center in Conway, S.C.
Forrester spent four years at NCAA Division II member institution University of Montevallo in Montevallo, Ala., as the Sports Information Director. He was the lone media relations contact for UM's 11 sport programs. He facilitated media relations coverage for Montevallo's run to the 2012 NCAA Men's Basketball Championship game and also served as the host SID of the 2012 NCAA Men's Basketball Southeast Regional and 2010 NCAA Men's Soccer Southeast Regional.
Prior to his time at Montevallo, he spent the spring of 2008 at Pennsylvania State University as the media relations contact for the Nittany Lions softball and women's soccer programs and the fall of 2007 at Villanova University as the media relations contact for the Wildcats women's volleyball, men's and women's swimming and softball programs. He also spent the summer of 2007 completing an internship for the University of Tampa sports information department.
Forrester got his start in sports information as a student at Lock Haven University in Lock Haven, Pa., where he gained valuable experience working alongside former Sports Information Director Al Weston and current SID Doug Spatafore. He was able to serve as a sport contact for the Bald Eagle baseball, men's and women's basketball and women's soccer programs throughout his time as a student. He also served as the official scorer of the 2006 Northeast Conference Division I Field Hockey Championship Tournament while also serving as LHU's media relations contact at the 2006 NCAA Softball Mid-Atlantic Regional and 2006 NCAA Softball National Championship Tournament where the Bald Eagles claimed their first NCAA Championship.
Forrester is a 2007 graduate of Lock Haven University where he earned a BS in Sport Administration. He and his wife, Jessica, welcomed their son William in December of 2016 and reside in Sylva, N.C.
