Several moves in external operations, one in NCAA compliance

Joey Cutting joined the Catamount Club in July of 2017 after spending two years at James Madison University as the Athletics Marketing Graduate Assistant.

While at James Madison University, his duties involved generating increases in attendance, engagement, and promotional incentives towards all JMU sports teams and fans. He was the primary contact for all marketing and fan experience elements for the women's soccer, volleyball, and softball programs. He also served as the in-game emcee at numerous JMU sporting events while serving as a secondary supervisor of JMU Athletics Marketing's student internship program.

Prior to JMU, Cutting was a Corporate Sponsorship/Sales, Development, and Fundraising Intern with IMG Sports Marketing at UNC-Asheville. He was also a game-day media, promotions, and fan engagement assistant as well as a social media and branding Intern for UNCA.

His other previous employment includes being a marketing/branding intern and zip line tour guide at Navitat Canopy Adventures in Asheville, N.C.

Graduating with Cum Laude honors and landing on the Dean's List for six consecutive semesters, Cutting received a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from UNC-Asheville in 2015. During his undergraduate career, he was a four-year letterman for UNC Asheville's men's soccer team and was the President of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) from 2013-2015.

He was also one of 200 student-athletes across the United States selected to attend the NCAA Career in Sports Forum at the NCAA National Office in Indianapolis, Ind. Cutting also received many awards during his time at UNC-Asheville, which included being inducted into the Beta Gamma Sigma business honors society, a two-time recipient of UNC Asheville's Bulldog Service and Leadership Award, and was the recipient of the Bruce and Joyce Goforth, Sam Millar, and Marcia Eckley-Yearout Athletics-Endowed Scholarships. He received his Master of Science in Sports Leadership from JMU's Hart School of Hospitality, Sport, and Recreation Management in May of 2017.

Cutting resides in Waynesville, N.C., and spends his free time fly fishing, exercising, exploring the Blue Ridge Mountains, and listening to country music.
