Brett Metcalf came to Western Carolina in January 2014 as the Director of Marketing. Previously, Metcalf spent two years at Liberty University, his alma mater, as an Athletics Marketing Assistant.
While serving as a marketing assistant at Liberty, Metcalf was the primary marketing contact for men's and women's soccer and softball, and a secondary contact for Football and Men's Basketball. Under his direction the department set single-game and season attendance records for men's and women's soccer. He also was a part of setting the department's year long athletics attendance record of over 200,000 fans. Metcalf oversaw and operated all Official Social Media sites for Liberty Flames Athletics as well as monitored all NCAA team pages. He assisted in increasing the Liberty Athletic's Facebook followers by 400 percent to over 20,000 fans and Twitter followers by 200 percent to over 9,000 in 18 months time.
Metcalf served as president of the Student Flames Club, growing membership from 475 to over 1,200 members in just one year. The membership boost resulted in over $60,000 revenue for the athletics department over 2 years. He also acted as an athletic liaison to various on-campus groups and was a voice for the athletics department at many events both on and off campus. Metcalf worked with a wide range of corporate partners and local businesses to build relationships and secure donations and prizes for Liberty Athletic's Annual Golf Tournament.
From July 2011 to January 2012, Metcalf also worked as a sales associate at Titan Team Sports, co-operating the company's social media accounts, assisting with in-store promotions and representing the company at various local events.
Metcalf graduated from Liberty University with a B.S. in Sport Management and a minor in business. He also earned his Masters in Business Administration (M.B.A.) from Liberty in May of 2014.
