Catamount Athletics Announces Staff Changes

Several moves in external operations, one in NCAA compliance

Alex Ritter joined the Western Carolina Athletics as an Assistant Director of the Catamount Club in June 2017. He comes to WCU after working for the Deacon Club at Wake Forest as a Development Assistant.

While working with the Deacon Club at Wake Forest, Alex supported the major gifts team and worked closely with the annual fund. His duties included monitoring campaign and project progress, prospecting and cultivating prospects, soliciting annual scholarship support, organizing donor engagement/stewardship events.

During his time, the Deacon Club, secured over $40 million in new gifts and pledges toward capital, annual, and endowment initiatives. Prior to Wake Forest, Alex coached basketball, first as a high school coach at his alma mater and then later as a graduate assistant at VCU.

The Warrenton, VA native earned his B.A. in International Affairs from the University of Mary Washington in 2013 and his M. Ed. in Sport Leadership from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2016.
