WCU Has Eight Student-Athletes Graduate in December

Dec. 19, 2002

Cullowhee, N.C. - The Western Carolina Department of Athletics announced today a group of eight current and former Catamounts graduated from the University this December. Included in the list are Ahmed Green (football), Brenden Roy (football), Cedea Bowden (track & field), Holly Bright (track & field), Mary Faulk (women's golf), Brooke Stillman (women's golf) and Brian Hutchinson (baseball).

Green (Supply, N.C.) closed his career this past fall by earning first team All-Southern Conference honors. Roy (Reston, Va.) was a team captain in 2002 and ranked third on the team with 23 receptions.

Bowden, an All-SoCon performer, will return this spring for a final semester of eligibility, competing for the Cats in the sprints and jumps. Bright, who also is a past all-conference performer, is in her first season as a student assistant coach with the WCU cross country/track programs.

Faulk and Stillman, a National Golf Coaches Association All-Scholar selection, have both completed their eligibility. The two were part of Western's women's golf team, which showed dramatic improvement over their time in Cullowhee. In addition to the program's improvement on the course, the two helped the women's golf team be one of the top academic performers at Western and nationally.

Hutchinson a pitcher for the Catamount baseball team from 1996-98 and A.C. Reynolds product, helped Western win a Southern Conference title in 1997.

Also graduating this December was cheerleader Mark Reed.
