Cullowhee, N.C. - Drawing from the success of the Basketball Coaches' Luncheons enjoyed last winter, the Western Carolina Athletics Department will restart the weekly series beginning next Wednesday, October 17 and continue through mid-November before reconvening in January amidst basketball season.
This year's events will take place at the newly remodeled Cats' Den, located in Brown Cafeteria on the WCU campus. The Cats' Den is a leisure space for students and the WCU community which is decorated with Catamount sports memorabilia and photos of past Western legends.
Each week's luncheon will feature a buffet-style lunch beginning at 11:45 am and will last until approximately 1:00 pm. Head coaches from WCU's athletic programs will be the keynote speakers at each event offering insight into their seasons and "X's and O's" from their respective sport, as well as answering questions from those in attendance.
"Last year's basketball coaches' luncheons were very successful. They were great opportunities for our fans to interact with both of our head basketball coaches and to gain an inside perspective into their programs," said Western Carolina Director of Athletics, Chip Smith. "We want to take that a step further this year by starting these luncheons earlier and incorporating more of our head coaches in the event."
There is an open invitation to everyone in the surrounding communities, but an RSVP is requested by the Friday prior to the next event to allow proper preparations to be made. The cost of the luncheon is $7.00 per person.
