Cullowhee, N.C. - As Western Carolina University welcomes home its alumni and friends for Homecoming 2012, the Catamount Athletic department is also planning a special reunion of its own. The first-ever Catamount Legacy All Sports Reunion gets underway on Thursday, Oct. 4 and continues through Homecoming weekend.

Festivities get underway early on Homecoming week as the Catamount volleyball team hosts arch-rival Appalachian State Mountaineers on Thursday, Oct. 4 at 7:00 pm in the Ramsey Center. The following day, events officially get underway on Friday, Oct. 5, as downtown Sylva is painted purple & gold with the annual Homecoming parade. Those attending the reunion are invited to climb aboard the "Catamounts Forever" float to participate.

Following the parade, festivities swing to Cherokee for a special All Sports Reunion social to be held in the Locust Room in the Council Fire Ballroom at Harrah's Cherokee Casino and Hotel. The reception gets underway at 8:00 pm. Those attending the reunion can enjoy a night to reminisce old times and meet new faces. Heavy hors d'oeuvres will be provided with a cash bar.

Homecoming weekend continues on Saturday, Oct. 6 as Catamount men's and women's basketball players from the past lace `em up for a special Alumni Game to be held in the renovated Ramsey Center Auxiliary Gym. Admission for the alumni game is free with tip-off scheduled for 10:00 am.

Following the action on the hardwood, the event swings into full gear with a special pregame tailgate cookout ahead of the Catamounts' Homecoming game against the Georgia Southern Eagles with kickoff at 3:30 pm. The pregame cookout will be held on the Northwest Patio of the Ramsey Center.

Prior to the WCU football team storming the field at E.J. Whitmire Stadium, all attendees of the "Catamount Legacy All Sports Reunion" will be invited to "Rise as One" and lead the squad onto the field. Saturday evening culminates with more Catamount volleyball action as WCU hosts conference-foe, Davidson, beginning at 7:00 pm inside the friendly confines of the Ramsey Center.

The price to attend the Catamount Legacy All Sports Reunion is just $25 per person with children 12 & under admitted free. The charge includes the Homecoming parade and evening Meet & Greet at the Harrah's Cherokee Casino & Hotel, as well as admission to Saturday's cook out and football game.
