Cullowhee, N.C.. - In conjunction with the Western Carolina athletics department, the WCU Catamount Club has implemented a new electronic system that enables former Western athletes to update their contact information.
Links located on the right hand nav bar of each individual sport will direct former student-athletes to a survey enacted by Western's Office of Alumni Affairs. Whereas all alumni are encouraged to keep the information listed on that site up-to-date, it is also important to Western's athletics department and support groups such as the Catamount Club and Cats' "W" Club that former student-athletes participate to ensure the fullness of that database.
"It's vital that we maintain contact with our former student-athletes as they are the history and thus the lifeblood of our athletic heritage," said Bill Richter, Executive Director of the Catamount Club. "It is especially important that we maintain accurate mailing addresses so we can make certain that everyone who wishes to receives our correspondence - from our newsletter "The Cats Paws" to our annual auction and also our various golf outings and special event invitations."
He added, "I am also hopeful that as a result of this effort we will obtain a solid E-mail address database containing all of our former athletes as this makes it much easier for us to stay in touch with them."
On several of the sports pages, there are multiple calls for alumni information. The "Calling All Alumni" link is directed towards each individual sport where as the Alumni Affairs link is geared towards keeping the University database up-to-date, which will in turn help the Catamount Club.
