Armchair Coaching Series Winner, Mike Bowen, Earns First Down for the Catamounts

Sept. 17, 2008

Cullowhee, N.C. - When the Catamounts needed a big play on third down, the play-call from Mike Bowen of Lincolnton in the "Armchair Coaching Series" proved to be the right call for Western Carolina.

Midway through the third quarter last week against nationally-ranked Liberty, on a crucial third and two, senior quarterback Andy Horn found classmate Donald James downfield for a 12-yard gain. Not only did the play pick up a Catamount first down, but it also brought the Catamounts into Liberty's side of the field.
