WCU Athletics Announces 'Catamount Legacy All Sports Reunion'

Cullowhee, N.C. - In an attempt to promote the future by honoring its past, Western Carolina Athletics is proud to announce its plans for the first-ever "Catamount Legacy All Sports Reunion" which will coincide with the 2012 WCU Homecoming Weekend on Oct. 5-6, 2012.

Catamount athletics is welcoming home ALL former student-athletes, coaches, athletic trainers and team managers home to Cullowhee for a special Homecoming reunion.

Festivities get underway early on Homecoming week as the Catamount volleyball team hosts the arch-rival Appalachian State Mountaineers on Thursday, Oct. 4 at 7:00 pm in the Ramsey Center. Events officially get underway on Friday, Oct. 5, as downtown Sylva is painted purple with the annual Homecoming parade. Those attending the reunion are invited to climb aboard the "Catamounts Forever" float to participate.

Following the parade, festivities swing to Cherokee for a special All Sports Reunion social to be held in the Locust Room in the Council Fire Ballroom at Harrah's Cherokee Casino and Hotel.

Homecoming weekend continues on Saturday, Oct. 6 as Catamount men's and women's basketball players from the past lace `em up for a special Alumni Game. Following the action on the hardwood, the event swings into full gear with a special pregame tailgate cookout ahead of the Catamounts' Homecoming game against the Georgia Southern Eagles with kickoff at 3:30 pm. Prior to the game, all attendees of the "Catamount Legacy All Sports Reunion" will be invited to "Rise as One" and lead the football team onto the field.

The evening culminates with more Catamount volleyball action as WCU hosts conference-foe, Davidson, beginning at 7:00 pm inside the friendly confines of the Ramsey Center.

The all encompassing price to attend the first-ever All Sports Reunion is $25.00 per adult with children 12 & under admitted free. The fee includes the Friday night Meet & Greet in Cherokee, football pregame tailgate cookout and a ticket to the Homecoming game against GSU. Deadline to reserve your spot is September 24.
