Cullowhee, N.C. - The Western Carolina Athletic Department will hold a press conference this Friday, Aug. 3 at 10:00 am in the Ramsey Center Hospitality Room as the Football Task Force will present its findings to Athletics Director, Chip Smith.
The conference is open to the public. (Note: the two parking lots closest to the Ramsey Center ground level entrances will be closed on Friday due to WCU's summer commencement. Those coming to the press conference should park in the Football Stadium lot adjacent the Ramsey Center or the Creek Lot across the street.)
If you can not make it to the conference, the proceedings will be aired live on the Flagship Station of Catamount Athletics, WWCU-FM, Power 90dot5 in Cullowhee and online at www.WWCUFM.com.
Commissioned by Smith on Feb. 2 and populated on Feb. 22, the Football Task Force Committee was charged with "identifying best practices and asked to define priorities and set goals for a successful football program." Suggestions and recommendations from the committee will help define benchmarks for excellence for the football program.
The group was chaired by Mr. Jim Moore, who is a retired banking executive who has been closely associated with WCU throughout his life. He is a past Chairman Western's Board of Trustees and is currently the Chairman of the WCU Foundation Board.
Both Smith and Moore, as well as WCU head football coach Kent Briggs, will be available for comment at this conference. Western's Faculty Athletics Representative, Dr. Gibbs Knotts, will be representing the committee and will present the findings on Friday.
