Hickory, N.C. - The 2008 Catamount Club Scholarship Auction was held last Saturday, July 26 at the Hickory Metro Convention Center. With the facility decked in purple and gold, over 160 people flocked to the event, which featured a coaches' reception, silent auction, live comedian entertainment, a banquet-style dinner and the live auction.
Money raised from the annual event will be put towards scholarships for Western Carolina student-athletes.
Items up for bid ranged from weekend to week-long vacation packages; sporting event tickets, including NASCAR and Carolina Panther events in Charlotte to Chancellor's Box seats for the Western-Appalachian State football game; furniture and decorative art, and various sports memorabilia.
"Thank you to all who attended and supported this year's Auction," said Catamount Club Director - and Western Carolina alum - Gorham Bradley. "Through your support of this event, as well as many other events, the Catamount Club is truly making a difference in the lives of the student-athletes at Western Carolina University."
On behalf of Bradley and everyone with the Catamount Club, special thanks to everyone who donated items to and attended the event; to those who so generously bid on items and purchased raffle tickets; and for everyone who helped make the event possible.
